Product Description
Flex SSG-EDC ,    is   a   Low    Cost    BERT     with    Electrical
Stressor  Signal  Generator   &  15G DSO in one instrument
for   Long   Reach Mode, Ultra   Long  Haul  and  Submarine
applications,    intended    for     characterization    as   well
manufacturing.  It  generates  the 3 LRM Stress  conditions
(Post-cursor, Pre-cursor, Symmetric)  to mimic worst-case
dispersion effects & Clean Eye, classified in the Standards
IEEE 802.3ae   10 GE   ,    IEEE 802.3aq     10 GBASE-LRM ,   for
generating      standard     stressed    signal    used   for  EDC
(Electronic  Dispersion  Compensation)  testing,    &    Long
Reach Multimode LAN, with BERT.

As   well   as   a   15G   Digital   Sampling   Oscilloscope   that
automatically   performs   accurate   eye-diagram   analysis
to characterize the quality of transmitters and receivers, implementing a statistical under-sampling technique with comprehensive     software     libraries     that     for     eye     measurements     and     jitter    analysis  and  processing  of  NRZ  data.

EDC (Electronic Dispersion Compensation) Functionality
A multi-mode fiber (MMF) disperses the light from a laser, such that an optical pulse is split into multiple paths (“modes”) traveling at different speeds through the fiber, yielding multiple pulses that arrive at the receiver at different times. At 10Gbps data rates, the spread of these additional arrivals around the fundamental mode (the primary path carrying the most optical energy) can cause significant inter-symbol interference (ISI), preventing accurate recovery of the signal. Each transmitted symbol causes pre-cursor ISI to the preceding symbols, due to stray modes that travel faster than its fundamental mode.
The FLEX-SSG-EDC mimics the various stress conditions to ensure a DUT will work when deployed in a real network.
